Tiger Tales: Meet Chauncey Park

Support Team Lead Chauncey Park spends his days providing technical answers to users of the Tigerpaw One business automation software.

Every office seems to have one these days — the Mustache Man. Support Team Lead Chauncey Park is that guy at Tigerpaw.

But his epic 'stache isn't the only thing that defines him. Chauncey has a contagious laugh, quick wit and, especially, a heart of service, the latter of which drives him to spend his days providing thorough answers to customers who call or email for assistance.

How long have you worked at Tigerpaw and what brought you here?

I have been lucky enough to work at Tigerpaw a little over six years. I had applied here once or twice in the past before I was actually hired. I thought my accounting experience would benefit a software company. I never thought about support but mostly an accounting position. It finally worked out.

Funny story about my hiring: I had been in accounting for 25 years or so and could not find a job in accounting. I took some IT courses and started applying at IT companies. I found a job and two weeks later I was offered a better job for more money at another company, then about a two weeks after that I was offered more money to come work here. I made the right decision there.


We're pretty fun and quirky around here. Do you have a Tigerpaw story that speaks to that?

As most know around here, my memory fails all too often. I guess my favorite one is one year I came back from my annual vacation with a thicker and longer mustache. Most of the crew thought I looked like Mario from Mario Kart. So for that Halloween, I became a real-life Mario. From that point on, when at home passing out candy, I am dressed as Mario.


What does your typical day look like? How exactly do you go about resolving technical issues for customers?

I wish there was a typical day in support. I guess the most typical thing about Tigerpaw Support is that it is not typical. We never know what we are going to get on a daily basis. Some days it runs with Timer Service issues. The next day we are flooded with calls on Mobile. Some days it runs the gamut from Activities to Workflows. There is never a dull moment and we are constantly busy with support calls to how-to calls. We do our best to answer each question and resolve each issue.

To resolve our customer issues, it is a step process. The first step is to ask questions to get to the real issue. Most of the time, the customer does not understand what the issue is. The customer just knows they cannot do something they could do before, or they thought the software would do something else and it did not. We have to ask a lot of probing questions to get to the heart of the issue. Once that is accomplished, it makes troubleshooting and testing run more smoothly.


Have you always had a mustache? What pop culture figure has the best 'stache?

I have not always had a mustache. Even though there are those who thought I was born with it or had it when I was like 10 or so. I have been growing my mustache for over 30 years. It has gone over many styles over the years before settling on the Teutul Stache. Teutul Stache, you ask? Just watch a few episodes of West Coast Chopper. The father, Paul Teutul Sr. has the stache. Although, historians will say that type of mustache has been around since the 18th Century. I think that was verified on Wiki. So you know it’s true, since the internet never lies.

The best mustache I would say would be Kenneth Branagh’s role as Hercules Poirot in the 2017 movie adaptation of "Murder on the Orient Express." In my opinion, it's the best Poirot mustache since the inception of the character in 1920’s by Agatha Christie.


When you aren't at Tigerpaw, what are you most likely doing?

When I am not at Tigerpaw you will usually find me at home outside, relaxing with my dogs. I get great comfort from my dogs, two Springer Spaniels, who are the joys of my life.

When not relaxing at home, my wife and I enjoy estate sales, garage sales and auctions. We don’t buy anything most of the time. We enjoy seeing the décor of the homes, styles and junk they have that we have. Oh, and I have to add fantasy football!
